A report of a woman being shot in Deepwater, MO resulted in the arrest of a 36-year old man in Henry County on Thursday night.

According to Henry County Sheriff Kent Oberkrom, deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of N. 6th Street in Deepwater, regarding a disturbance which involved gunshots.

Upon arrival, authorities noticed a woman who sustained a single gunshot wound to her lower, left leg, above the ankle.

A press release from the Henry County Sheriff' Dept, indicates a man, Jesse Raybourn, was immediately taken into custody and a 20-gauge shotgun was found lying in the yard in close proximity to the gunshot victim.

Deputies interviewed several witnesses and investigation revealed that a verbal domestic disturbance had occurred between Raybourn and the victim. A verbal disturbance reportedly escalated, into the first reported gunshot being fired. The verbal disturbance continued, then again escalated into a physical disturbance between both parties, which resulted in a second gunshot being fired while Raybourn had the shotgun in his possession, striking the female victim in the lower leg.

The victim was treated at the scene by Golden Valley Memorial Hospital EMS, then taken by air ambulance to a Kansas City area hospital for emergency treatment.

Raybourn is currently in custody at the Henry County Jail, for 1st Degree Domestic Assault, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
