Keifer Thompson, Randy Houser and More Set for No Shave November
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is preparing to launch the fourth annual No Shave November, as the eleventh month of the year is right around the corner.
For the entire duration of the chilly month, gentleman like Keifer Thompson of Thompson Square, Randy Houser and Craig Campbell, among others, will join teams and ditch their razors or other shaving tools and grow facial hair, rallying friends and family to make donations to support their hairy pursuits.
No Shave November is an incredibly passive and effective way to raise money. The men who participate are asked to do nothing except let the hair on their face grow and earn donations. The concept began when a group of men at a record label in Nashville decided to cease shaving for a month and donate the money saved from not using or purchasing shaving accessories to St. Jude. It started out with $30 donations and has grown exponentially.
All of the donations will be used to fund St. Jude's mission to save the lives of children and find cures for their illnesses. Thompson has been christened the 2013 Honorary Chairman of the Beard and hopes to lead his team to a scruffy, hairy victory.
"This has to be the most absurdly wonderful recognition I've received to date," says Thompson, who has the distinction of being last year's top fundraiser. "For No Shave November to have raised so much money to further the tremendous work of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is something every participant should be incredibly proud of. At the same time, for all of us to have done it by spending a month as a sloth is pretty ridiculous. I'm actually not sure if I'm honored to be the scraggly face of this thing or not!"
Look at it this way, Keifer! It's cold in November, so you're getting an extra layer of insulation for your face.
The minimum donation is $30. The signup page is here. Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow.
