Sedalia voters elected a new mayor in a tight race on Tuesday.

Three candidates were vying for Sedalia mayor. Incumbent Stephen J. Galliher was narrowly defeated by John Kehde. Forty-nine votes separated the candidates. Kehde received a total of 1,250 votes to Galliher's 1,201. The third candidate, Kevin C. Walker, received 450 votes.

Many Sedalia races were uncontested including all four wards for city council.

Jeff Leeman will continue to serve the 1st Ward. Bonita Nash will continue to represent the 2nd Ward, while Don Meier stays with 3rd Ward and Tolbert (Tollie) Lee Row ran uncontested in the 4th Ward.

Sedalia residents were asked to vote for 2 members on the Sedalia 200 School Board. The candidates included board president Dr. Jeffrey Sharp running for re-election, Steve Schilb, Matthew Herren, and Richard Thomas.

Mr. Schilb won with 2,419 votes, while Dr. Sharp also won with 2,384.

Herren received 1,485 votes and Thomas had 555.

Other races across Pettis County included Patty Wood and Jim Page each winning to be on the State Fair Community College Board of Trustees.

Winners for the Hughesville R-5 School Board are Grant Lewton and Michael J. Arnett. Candidates for the Smthton R-6 School Board winners are Kyle Richard Asbury and Curt W. Tagtmeyer. And voters chose Shawn Harris for the Dresden R-12 School Board.

Keith Rowland will continue to serve as director for Pettis County Fire Protection District 1.

Candidates for the Pettis County Ambulance District 6 Director included John Meehan and Allan Rohrbach, with voters electing Meehan.

The election for LaMonte mayor was uncontested and Ronnie McNeive will serve. In the Green Ridge mayoral race, Ronnie Ollison faced Daniel Williams, with voters electing Ollison the winner. Also in Green Ridge, Tony Turner & Charles R. Martin will serve as alders.

Aldermen in LaMonte's two wards ran uncontested. Fred Armstrong will represent Ward 1 and David P. Wessel for Ward 2.

John L.Morley will serve as alderman in the City of Windsor for Ward 1. In Hughesville, Jennifer Raines won as Trustee.

According to Pettis County Clerk, Nick La Strada, there was a 19.56% voter turnout county-wide, with total of 5,066 ballots cast.
