Most of the time you don't need a reason to take a nap but then there are those moments that you would like to be equipped if you're ever questioned as to why you need one. Let's see if we can help the cause.

If you're a baby or a toddler, the question of why you need a nap is usually because you're tired and/or cranky. So what if you're older and you still feel you have that same need. How do you justify it?

Naps are essential to a healthy life. A short nap can do wonders to help lift your spirits. It can help your mood. It can help to boost your work performance. A nap is a great stress reliever. You usually come out of a short nap more alert. In fact it has been proven that a nap helps to boost your memory.

But make sure your nap is 30 minutes or less. As you sleep longer your ability to wake up refreshed is diminished. According to a story on WebMD:

That grogginess you can feel after a nap is called sleep inertia. The longer you nap, the more likely you are to have that feeling. The worse it is, the more time you’ll need to wake up and transition back to work.

So enjoy that nap and the benefits from it!
