The first weekend of the Missouri State Fair wraps up today and it is an opportunity thank our men and women in the military as it is Show-Me Salutes Military Appreciation Day, sponsored by I-Land Internet Services.  With Whiteman Air Force Base, Fort Leonard Wood, and various National Guard and Reserve Units stationed around Sedalia, it’s sure to be a big day.  Those who are active military, military, veterans, an delayed entry recruits with appropriate I.D. will get in for free and immediate family members will get in for $1.  Plus, there will be $5 off carnival ride wristbands at the Midway ticket booth with coupon available at the admission gate.  In addition to the great military deal, there will be a Military appreciation ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Mathewson Exhibition Center.

The science and technology theme for the weekend will also continue, as the Show-Me Robotics Exhibits will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Assembly Hall.  If you were familiar with Battle Bots, this is pretty similar except the robots play games instead of destroying each other.

There will also be an amateur talent show at Noon at the Touchstone Energy Stage.

The Olympics may be coming to an end, but you come see Missouri contestants bench press and deadlift at the VIP Tent.

The State Fair Arena will feature and ATV Rodeo Point Series event at 1 p.m. and the Pepsi Grandstand will have Day 1 of the Missouri Association Championship Truck and Tractor Pull with qualifying at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
