Good News for Missouri – Only One City Ranks Most Obese in Nation
The winter months seem to be the hardest for me when it comes to not eating too much. The struggle is real my friend.
A new ranking lists America's Top 50 Obese Cities and while Illinois has three Missouri only has one city. The new ranking looked at age, reports of diabetes (which has gone up nationally), overall health, and sleep, and one Missouri town made the list.
Cape Girardeau
According to 247tempo.com, cape Girardeau has one of the highest obesity rates in the Show-Me State. The U.S. Average is 32.0% and Cape Girardeau is up to 40% among adults. All of the results for Cape Girardeau are above the national average including adults who don't exercise regularly, people over 20 with diabetes, adults with poor health, and adults who don't get enough sleep. In all those categories Cape Girardeau was over the national average.
The Good News
There is only one city, so that means all of the other big cities in the Show-Me State are below the national average. So, pat yourselves on the back Missourians this is great news. Not so much for Illinois, the experts put Cape Giragedeau in Illinois, along with, Rockford, and Kankakee.
The South Rules
Seems the top 5 states are all in the South, which doesn't surprise me at all. Laredo, Texas takes the top spot on the list. They must have delicious food options there, and who would want to work out when it's 1,000 degrees in the summer? Not Me!
