Country singer Mickey Gilley and his son Michael were involved in a rollover car accident on Wednesday (Jan. 3), in Corrigan, Texas. Michael Gilley is largely unharmed, but Mickey Gilley suffered two broken bones in the crash.

The Gilleys were headed home to Branson, Mo., following an event in Texas, when the accident occurred. According to KJAS, another driver ran a stop sign; Michael Gilley, who was driving a 2013 Toyota SUV, swerved to try to avoid the other vehicle, but the Gilleys' SUV clipped the other vehicle, causing their SUV to roll over and land in a median, upside down.

Susan Gilley, Michael Gilley's wife, tells KJAS, that her husband is "sore, but otherwise okay." Mickey Gilley, per a press release, suffered a broken right shoulder and a broken ankle, as well as some bumps and bruises. After receiving medical treatment, Mickey and Michael Gilley were released to leave with Susan Gilley.

"I am having a hard time walking because I have a big boot on my left leg. But other than that I’m doing pretty good," Mickey Gilley says in a Facebook video, adding, "I don’t intend to retire. I will be out there on the road, and I’ll see you real soon.”

Gilley will reschedule his show at the Texas Theatre in Greenville, Texas, set for Jan. 6; a new date will be announced in the coming weeks. Gilley will resume his normal touring schedule on Jan. 20 with a show at the Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale, Fla.

Gilley, 81, rose to fame in country music in the 1970s, thanks in part to his No. 1 song "Room Full of Roses." Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, he earned numerous more No. 1 hits; the movie Urban Cowboy helped move his career forward as well.

In 2009, Gilley was helping a neighbor move some furniture when he fell and crushed four vertebrae, leaving him temporarily paralyzed. With the help of physical therapy, he was able to walk again, and he returned to the stage about a year after the accident.
