Sedalia Police observed a vehicle that appeared to be driving into the oncoming lanes of West 16th Street Sunday morning.

The vehicle then drifted back into its lane and continued driving within 18 inches of the curb at a low rate of speed.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at West 16th Street and South Beacon Avenue. When Officers made contact with the driver, they detected the strong odor of intoxicants on his breath. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated.

Jesse D. Wakefield, 42, of Marshall, was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC at 0.141. Wakefield was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for Driving While Intoxicated with a court date.

Wakefield was then transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold.
