A liquor store employee was arrested on April 3 after she allegedly sold alcohol to an underage minor after Marshall Police conducted a compliance check at the business.

According to a facebook post by the police department last week, an 18-year-old working with police entered the liquor store in the 1600 block of South O'Dell (just south of Morrow) at 5:26 p.m., and was able to purchase a 12-pack of White Claw hard seltzer drinks.

The employee who sold the teen the drinks was then arrested for supplying liquor to a minor.

31-year-old Kourtney Brockman, after being advised she was being arrested for selling alcohol to a minor, then asked to use the bathroom.

The officer said yes, but first she would have to empty her pockets, at which time a substance which later tested positive for crack cocaine was located.

Also, a computer check revealed that Kourtney Brockman of Marshall was wanted on a Saline County FTA warrant for being a fugitive from justice on an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance with a bond amount of $15,000 (cash only).

Brockman also faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. She was booked in at the Saline County Sheriff's Office at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, April 3. She is expected to appear in court on Thursday.

According to Marshall Police, the compliance check was done in anticipation of the upcoming prom and high school graduation season fast approaching.

“Underage drinking is a serious public health problem in the United States. Alcohol is the most widely used substance among America’s youth and can cause enormous health and safety risks,” the post read.
