A 78-year old man died from injuries after a weekend house fire in Sedalia.

The Sedalia Police Department says that just before 6:30 Saturday evening (Feb 23), officers received a 911 call in regards to a structure fire at 209 S. Washington Ave.

Sedalia Fire Department personnel, along with Sedalia Police and PCAD, responded.

Upon arrival, first responders reportedly observed the residence full of smoke. Members of the Sedalia Fire Department made entry through the front door and located an unresponsive subject, later identified as 78-year old Larry D. Moad. Authorities removed Mr. Moad from the house for medical treatment.

Medical crews performed life-saving measures and Moad was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for further treatment. Sedalia Fire crews extinguished the blaze, which was primarily contained to the SE portion of the house.

Mr. Moad later passed away from injures sustained in the fire.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
