Love and Theft’s ‘Angel Eyes’ Reaches Gold Certification
Love and Theft are on the brink of scoring their very first No. 1 single with ‘Angel Eyes,’ but the celebration has already started. The tune, which was written by Love and Theft’s Eric Gunderson (along with Eric Paslay and Jeff Coplan), has been certified gold for digital downloads exceeding 500,000 copies sold.
Reaching such a status in their fresh career is something that Gunderson and his singing partner, Stephen Barker Liles, have dreamed about since first starting the duo (which was originally a trio).
“Ever since I started playing music, it has been a dream of mine to have a song or album go gold,” Gunderson says. “Thank you to everyone who made this happen for us.”
“Holy Moly!” Liles adds. “We are so excited about our first ever gold single. Anytime people spend their hard earned money, it’s an honor and we are truly humbled.”
‘Angel Eyes’ is Love and Theft’s lead single from their self-titled album, which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart the week following its release. In addition to the success on the country singles charts, where it currently is in the Top 5, the music video for ‘Angel Eyes’ is rapidly approaching two million views on VEVO.com.
Love and Theft are currently in the midst of playing on Brad Paisley‘s Virtual Reality Tour that runs through Sept. 29. Click here for a full list of dates where the adorable duo will be playing throughout the remainder of the year.
