The Sacred Heart JV and Varsity Volleyball team played the Marshall Owls in Marshall on Monday, Aug. 31.

The JV fell just short in a 3-set loss. The first set the JV fought hard but lost 22-25, then won the second set 25-22 and lost the third set 7-25. Leading scorers for the game were Sammy Altena with 9 points and Emily Hesse with 6 points.

The Varsity began the game with an injury in warm-ups to Senior Kaytlin Kempf but managed to fight back and beat the Marshall Owls in three sets 25-17, 26-24, and 25-23. The Gremlins played good team offense and defense consistently throughout the night. "I'm very proud of how the girls stayed focused and adjusted to the changes tonight." said Coach Marlo Siron.

"This team worked together and made on the spot changes that were key to winning," she said.

Leading scorers were sophomore Mariana Restrepo with 11 points and sophomore Emma Siron with nine points.

The Gremlins are now 1-0 on the season and will play at Crest Ridge on Thursday.
