Lady Antebellum’s TV Addiction: ‘This Is Us’
If you're addicted to NBC's This Is Us, you've got friends in country music. All three members of Lady Antebellum are fans of the show and several of the actors.
"Happy tears, and sad tears every episode," Hillary Scott tells Taste of Country Nights. "It is an emotional roller-coaster but I think it's a brilliant show. It's the perfect ensemble of people ... and I've loved Mandy Moore forever."
The group kept up with the show and maybe did some binge watching together while writing and recording their upcoming Heart Break album in Florida and California, respectively. The went south first, inviting their songwriting friends to come visit for marathon writing sessions. Then they cut the album near Hollywood late last year. The single "You Look Good" came late in the process, as they were nearing the finish.
"It's just such a funky track," Charles Kelley says. "Hillary's been begging us to put horns on a song for the longest time. The minute we laid the track down it was like, 'Man, it needs something.' And the horns just set the song off."
It's a curveball they say, which is apt as that's what they try to do with lead singles from all their albums. Look for Heart Break in stores on June 9. The You Look Good Tour with Brett Young and Kelsea Ballerini will begin in May.
Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 75 stations nationwide. Listen to highlights on iTunes or your Android device.
