Kansas City Chiefs Sign Former Missouri Tigers Quarterback Chase Daniel
The name Chase Daniel rings very familiar in this area. After all, he did lead the Missouri Tigers to two of the best years in school history, was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the year, holds the record for the most offensive yards in a career at Mizzou, and finished third in the Heisman race. Today (Mar. 12) the Former New Orleans Saints backup quarterback agreed to terms with the Kansas City Chiefs.Daniel had spent the past three years in New Orleans, backing up Drew Brees with the Saints. It was rumored that the New York Jets were very interested in signing Daniel to compete for the back-up duty of Mark Sanchez. The Chiefs were able to pick up Daniel and they agreed to a three year deal with the team. The move helps the Chiefs significantly after the mediocre quarterback play from Cassel and Quinn last year. The Chiefs still hold the #1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft on April 25.
The new front office for the Kansas City Chiefs have made some big off-season transactions. Free agency began at 3:00 PM on March 12th, it was rumored the Chiefs would be looking for a back-up quarterback to the newly acquired Alex Smith. When a team picks up a quarterback who is believed to fill the role as the back-up it usually doesn't get fans too excited, unless of course he happens to be a local legend.
I expect to see many old #10 Missouri Tiger jerseys in the stands at Arrowhead this coming season! Tell us what you think of the Chiefs picking up Chase Daniel. Can he possibly be the starter in a few years? Does having local college stars on your favorite local team excite you?
