Kaleb Filis Leaves For Military Deployment

When I signed my name on the dotted line for the United State Air Force, it confirmed that for the next six years, Uncle Sam owned me. At the time, I had no idea I would eventually have my own radio show.  I also never thought the two worlds would merge. If you haven't heard by now, I will be deploying soon with the U.S. Air Force. My last day behind the mic will be March 7.

I broke the news Monday, March 3 on the air, but close friends and family already knew about my deployment. Since announcing my departure, many of you have stopped me at a ball game, restaurant, grocery store, or even stopped by the station to wish me luck. I appreciate everyone's words of encouragement. It means a lot to know myself and our fellow United States soldiers have tremendous support from this community and the surrounding area.

I just want to point out how amazing our listeners are. I have received many Facebook messages and e-mails wishing me luck, but not only that, asking for the address of my deployed duty station to send care packages. I will make sure to make that available as soon as I get the information.

It wouldn't be right to leave without saying thank you to everyone at the station. We have had a lot of changes, but one thing has been consistent and that is how well they have treated me. They hired me knowing my military background, knowing that I could potentially be deployed. They have always stuck by me and for that, I am grateful.

I would like to personally thank each and every one who has ever listened to me, whether it be on KIX 105, 92.3 BOB-FM, or broadcasting a sporting event whether it be football, basketball, or baseball. I know the station won't miss a beat, we have some hard working people in this building that work hard everyday to bring you great radio.
