Is Jon Pardi’s ‘Night Shift’ a Hit? Listen and Sound Off!
Jon Pardi's "Night Shift" could steam up a car better than Jack and Rose. In the fifth single off his sophomore album, California Sunrise, Pardi sings of a rough week at work that he manages to get through by dreaming about some time beneath the sheets with his No. 1.
"It's been a wreck me week / Sixty plus from dawn to dusk / In the red dirt heat / Busting it up for a couple of bucks / But it ain't no thing / Just another day till I'm on my way / To them cool, cool sheets and you and me," he croons on the opening verse.
Pardi's distinct vocals alongside forward-thinking production, a heart-stomping beat and memorable guitar parts make "Night Shift" an obvious radio hit that is also a staple in his live show. The song was written by Tofer Brown, Phillip LaRue and Billy Montana.
"Night Shift" recalls Pardi's previous No. 1 hit "Dirt on My Boots" in subject matter, but in this one the California native ends the workday by spending the night with his girl — it's the kind of job he's actually looking forward to.
Did You Know?: Pardi launched his latest album, 2016's California Sunrise, with three back-to-back chart toppers with "Head Over Boots," "Dirt on My Boots" and "Heartache on the Dance Floor."
Jon Pardi's "Night Shift" Lyrics:
It's been a wreck me week / Sixty plus from dawn to dusk / In the red dirt heat / Busting it up for a couple of bucks / But it ain't no thing / Just another day till I'm on my way / To them cool, cool sheets and you and me
Chorus:
Working on the night shift, baby / Dying for your touch like crazy / Racking up the overtime hours / Loving how we're working on the night shift, baby
Gonna rock it right / No need to talk, I know what you want / And what you like / Cause I do too, yeah / I love how you leave on the lights / Not a thing between you and me / And it feels so nice when you and I are
Chorus:
It's been a wreck me week / Oh, but who needs sleep?
Chorus:
Loving how we're working on the night shift / Loving how we're working on the night shift / Working on the night shift, baby, yeah
