Expect Delays: Maguire Street Utility Work Underway
The City of Warrensburg's Facebook page proclaims, "It's beginning to look a lot like... construction. Everywhere you go. Take a look at the Maguire corridor; there's more utility work in store, with orange cones and reduced lanes galore!" Of course, you sang it like "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas." Of course, traffic and construction along Maguire Street is enough to turn anyone into the Grinch, and it's probably only going to get worse.
Traffic changes will occur in the Rethink Maguire construction corridor starting Monday, December 16, 2024. The southbound lanes of Maguire Street between Market Street and Culton Street will close for sanitary sewer work.
The Rethink Maguire Street Facebook page suggests people use Market Street, College Street, and Railroad Street to detour around the closure.
Additionally, a portion of Culton Street west of Main Street will close on Monday, December 16. Drivers are asked to use College Street to access businesses on Culton Street. Businesses in the area will remain open and accessible during construction.
For those unfamiliar, the construction is related to the City of Warrensburg's Rethink Magure project. This project aims to transform the Maguire Street corridor, which connects Highway 50 to the University of Central Missouri and the larger community. The project corridor includes Maguire Street from Cooper Boulevard north of the Highway 50 interchange to Broad Street. It's the city's highest-volume street, with nearly 18,000 daily trips.
