Sedalia Police Reports for October 2, 2023

Officers were searching for a subject Sunday night after they saw the person attempting to flee the area after seeing law enforcement. Officers contacted the subject, who was actively trespassing at the Katy Depot, 300 East 3rd Street. After a check with Dispatch, it was confirmed the subject had two felony Failure to Appear warrants for their arrest, and a Probation Violation warrant. Christopher Michael Stein, 45, of Concordia, was arrested for his felony Failure to Appear warrants on two original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Stein’s Probation Violation warrant concerned original charges of Non-Support of a Minor Child from Johnson County. Bond on the FTA warrants amounted to $7500 each, while the PV warrant carried a $5,000 cash only bond.

Sunday evening, Officers responded to the area of West 16th Street and South Limit Avenue for a report of a disturbance. The disturbance occurred in the parking lot of the Missouri Bank, 1600 South Limit Avenue. The involved subjects were contacted, and it was determined an assault occurred between the subjects. No primary aggressor could be determined. A 12-hour log was begun to document the incident.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1100 block of East 16th Street Sunday afternoon in reference to suspicious circumstances. Officers spoke with Angie M. Yeager, who stated that while they were remodeling the inside of their residence, bones were found within the crawl space. This incident is still being investigated.

Officers were dispatched to the Fox Theater, 501 South Ohio Avenue on Saturday night in reference to individuals littering the sidewalks and the general area with beer bottles and other trash. While Officers were on scene, one of the patrons of the party stumbled out of the Fox Theater. He then walked to a nearby business, and began to urinate on it. When Officers arrested him, he resisted. Inocente Prisciliano Miranda, 46, of Sedalia, was restrained and transported to the Pettis County Jail. There, Prisciliano Miranda was issued two Uniform Traffic Tickets: one for Urinating in Public, and another for Resisting Arrest.

Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street, in reference to trespassing. When Officers arrived, they spoke with the caller, who said the subject was refusing to leave. The subject refused to leave when directed, and was arrested. Scott Caswell, 41, Homeless, was arrested for Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Caswell was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.

Saturday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West 2nd Street for a 911 call. When Officers arrived, they contacted the caller, and discovered there was a disturbance. The intoxicated suspect was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Jersi Claros, 33, of Sedalia, was booked in on a charge of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Claros was placed on a 24-hour hold.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 400 block of East 3rd Street for a domestic violence incident Saturday night. Investigation revealed a female intoxicated by drugs had struck a male in the face, causing minor injuries. The female was searched, and it was discovered she was in possession of methamphetamine. Shayla Kay Russell, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested for Domestic Assault in the 4the Degree and Possession of a Dangerous Drug. Russell was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.

Saturday morning, a cell phone was found in the 2400 block of South New York Avenue. The phone was turned in at the Police Station, and will be held for safekeeping.

Friday night, Officers spoke with Grace Browne over the phone. Browne wished to report a count of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Device, because her bank account was hacked. A report has been completed.

On the afternoon of September 28th, Officers took a report of property damage from Rachel Carter. Carter explained the property damage at the Comfort Inn of Sedalia, 3600 West Broadway Boulevard. A report was completed.

Friday night, Officers spoke with Ashley Bardin on the telephone. Bardin wished to report her vehicle was stolen from the 400 block of North Prospect Avenue.

Sedalia Police met with Jackson Holt in the lobby of the Police Department last Thursday afternoon. Holt reported his EBT card was stolen from the 800 block of East 4th Street. A report was completed.

Thursday afternoon, Jennifer Ramey came to the Police Department to turn in some found property. She had found a cell pone in the 1000 block of West 10th Street. The phone has been placed into evidence as found property.

Officers took a theft report in the lobby of the Police Department Saturday morning from Ciera McNish. McNish stated her firearm was stolen from her residence in the 700 block of East 9th Street. The firearm had been stolen on September 27th.

Early Friday morning, Officers responded to the 1400 block of South Washington Avenue in reference to a theft of a moped. On arrival, Officers met with Donald Eugene Strobel Sr. Strobel stated he had woken up, and his garage door was open. When he got to the garage, his moped was gone. The vehicle was entered as stolen, and a report was submitted.
