Attempted Abduction of a Juvenile in Warrensburg?
Warrensburg Police were dispatched to the area of Marr Drive and South Maguire Street near the University of Central Missouri's South Recreation Complex to investigate the possible attempted abduction of a juvenile.
Officers spoke with the juvenile, who told them after missing the bus, they started walking to the high school. As they were walking by the U-Haul Rental at 1309 S. Maguire Street by Marr Drive, a darker red box-style SUV pulled up next to them and rolled down the window.
The Warrensburg Police press release states that the male driver exited the vehicle, and grabbed the individual's arm, but the individual kicked the male and he let them go. The male then got back into his vehicle and left the area. The juvenile described the male subject as white, with an uncared-for black beard, possibly around 40 years old.
After reviewing video from the intersection where the crime was reported to have occurred, and no other witnesses coming forward, Warrensburg Police have not been able to determine if a crime has occurred.
Chief Andrew Munsterman encourages anyone who may have witnessed this crime around 8:00 AM at Marr Drive and South Magure Street to contact the Warrensburg Police Department's Investigations Bureau at 660-747-9133.
UCM's Director of Public Safety, Chief Bill Brinkley, warned the University of Central Missouri Community of the investigation just before 10:00 AM because the attempted abduction occurred near UCM's South Recreation Complex. He reminded the University community that UCM's Public Safety Safe Team is available to provide escorts on campus. The University community may call 660-543-4123 and a Safe Team member will be dispatched to walk you wherever you wish to go on campus.
