Making Your Kid Take Out Trash in Missouri Might Break the Law?
Unlike many strange Missouri laws that are rarely enforced, this one is more serious and likely to garner you unwanted police attention. It is very much possible that you're doing something illegal if you make your child take the trash out in one specific and common scenario.
While I still can't imagine that you will suddenly have SWAT teams on your lawn if this happens, it's important to note that if you have an underage child take out the trash, there is a specific Missouri law that comes into play.
I'm no lawyer, but the Simon Law Firm is and they shared a Missouri law that few pay attention to, but it's a real thing.
How can I break Missouri law by having my kid take out the trash?
If your trash contains any type of alcoholic dispenser whether it be bottle or can, you're in danger of being charged of making an underage child be guilty of illegal possession of alcohol and it does not matter if the bottle or can are empty.
While I still can't imagine a Missouri police force going out of their way to enforce this, it certainly could become an issue if you have a neighbor witness your child taking out bottles of alcohol in the trash who calls in a report.
You just never know when something that is considered common and ordinary result in legal consequences. It likely happens more often than you think in Missouri.
