I'm not trying to downplay the honor because it really is a nice recognition for a Missouri place. However, what the net is declaring one of best places to live in America really is full of lead foot speeders.

First, the good stuff. Livability has just released their new 2024 Best Places to Live in the US list and it includes just one Missouri place. They use a large number of metrics including "based on nearly 100 data points and an algorithm that takes into account measures of a city’s economy, housing and cost of living, amenities, transportation, environment, safety, education and health".

The lone Missouri entry in their list is O'Fallon. There's just one small problem with O'Fallon. People use the accelerator too much there. Some residents even put down their own speed bumps a few months ago as shared by Fox 2 St. Louis.

One of the great things about O'Fallon is how family-friendly it is which makes the speeding problem all the more...well, problematic. Speeding is a problem in all parts of St. Louis, but it's especially concerning in an area like O'Fallon with so many children playing.

For all the bad press the Saint Louis area gets because of crime (some of it well-deserved I might add), the O'Fallon and Lake St. Louis area is really spectacular. Now, if only the drivers traveling to and through it would be a bit more careful.
