Farmer’s Almanac Calls for a Very Strange Christmas in Missouri
If you've enjoyed Christmas in Missouri for a decent amount of time, you no doubt understand that the type of winter weather you will be dealing with is a flip of the coin. If Farmer's Almanac is correct, the upcoming Christmas holiday in Missouri will be highly unusual compared to previous years.
The Old Farmer's Almanac just released their 2025 Christmas travel forecast
It's important to explain which Farmer's Almanac we're dealing with. You might have heard that Farmer's Almanac was shutting down after their 2026 edition. That's the "new" Farmer's Almanac which plans to cease operation after next year. This new Christmas travel forecast comes from the "old" Farmer's Almanac which says they are "still going strong...234 years and still growing". Good for them.
What does Farmer's Almanac say Missouri's Christmas will be like?
Missouri is a part of Farmer's Almanac heartland forecast which they say will be "mild, sunny...mostly smooth travel". When is the last time you can remember Christmas travel in Missouri being mild and pleasant? Admittedly, in recent years Missouri hasn't seen major snow over the Christmas holiday compared to what I remember a few decades ago. Winter doesn't normally kick into high gear with major snow in Missouri until January, but the state has had a few white Christmases.
How does Farmer's Almanac know what Missouri weather will be like a month and a half from now?
Farmer's Almanac says they have a secret formula that dates back to 1792 which factors in activity on the sun, historical weather patterns and good ole fashioned meteorology. They claim they are 80% accurate in their forecasts. Since I'm a big fan of not touching my shovel until I have to, I hope their right about Christmas in Missouri. I'm fine with minor snow so the white Christmas crowd is happy, but I don't enjoy driving in the white stuff. Long live old Farmer's Almanac.
