Yelp’s Top 10 KC, Missouri Area BBQ Spots Has a Surprise No. 1

If I gave you 50 guesses of what the highest-rated barbeque places in the Kansas City, Missouri area were, I'd be surprised if even half of your list agreed with what Yelp reviewers think are the best choices. As a matter of fact, their number one choice floored me and might you, too.

I want to be clear how I queried Yelp to find the highest-rated BBQ places in the Kansas City, Missouri area. I made sure to select "highest-rated" instead of "recommended" and I didn't apply any other feature filters. I believe that the reviews default to restaurants that allow takeout, so that might also be a factor. With all that being said, here are the top 10 BBQ places in the Kansas City area according to all the Yelp "experts".

I have heard that the Point & Flat BBQ food truck is a popular one for my Kansas City, Missouri area friends and family, but a food truck topping all of those legendary KC BBQ eateries really surprised me. I was also surprised that Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid's favorite Pigwich didn't make the top 10. It was listed as the 37th favorite KC area BBQ. Go figure. I bet Guy Fieri will be surprised, too. Just know that this isn't my Kansas City top 10 BBQ list. If you don't agree, blame all the reviewers on Yelp.
