I normally accept whatever the weather is without complaining too much, but in this case I really hope Farmer's Almanac prediction for what Fall will be like in Missouri is wrong. Otherwise, we'll all need to stock up on water for multiple reasons.

For the record, Fall officially begins on Sunday, September 22, 2024 which is only a month and a half away as of this writing. Farmer's Almanac thinks it knows (key word is "thinks") what that season will be like in Missouri. I will sum up their prediction in three words - High and dry.

This is the handy map they shared showing what temperatures will be like.

The red part is not desirable after a summer of heat. The precipitation forecast doesn't look much better.

How does Farmer's Almanac know the weather future anyway?

The Farmer's Almanac website says they have a specific formula that their founder used when they started way back in 1792 that includes sunspots among other things. I get the feeling that asking for specifics is like asking someone at KFC for that chicken recipe. They're not gonna tell you.

Climavision says that the University of Illinois shows that Farmer's Almanac is only right 52% of the time. If accurate, that's basically like me guessing, but with a diploma (unlike me).
