The Sacred Heart Gremlins soccer team placed first in the Kaysinger Conference Tournament by defeating Stover 5-2 on Friday night.

The highly anticipated championship game was an exciting evening for everyone who braved the chilly temperatures. Sacred Heart was on the board early after being awarded a free kick that junior Josh Pacheco sailed into the goal just 5 minutes into the game. The excitement from the impressive shot fueled the Gremlin to win the conference tourney for a second straight year. Sophomore Gabriel Malacara kept the momentum going by scoring back-to-back goals before halftime. The halftime score was 3 - 0.

In the second half, senior Jackson Manning scored from an assist from junior Diego DeLeon and Stover answered about 10 minutes later with their first goal. Jackson Manning scored again with 19:50 remaining. The Bulldogs were able to score a second goal with just over 11 minutes left in the game.

Final score: Sacred Heart 5, Stover 2
