Garth Brooks Reveals Details of Upcoming Album, ‘Gunslinger’
Garth Brooks is finally sharing the intricate details of his new album. Titled Gunslinger, the country icon's eleventh studio album will be available by the end of November.
Brooks revealed the release date, project title and cover art during the latest installment of Inside Studio G, a Facebook video series which takes fans behind-the-scenes of the album process.
"The album title came to me when somebody asked me what my favorite thing about being on the road was," Brooks says in a press release, which followed the Monday night (Oct. 17) episode. "I said 'It just feels good to be out there being a gunslinger again. Just aiming with the heart and shooting from the hip, that's what you do on the stage, right? And, lucky enough, you've got the ammo of 'Friends in Low Places,' 'Callin' Baton Rouge,' 'Shameless' and you do. You’re a gunslinger out there. And each show’s different and you just shoot from the hip all night long.' As soon I said it, I knew that was the album title right there."
The 54-year-old entertainer released the first single from Gunslinger, "Baby, Let's Lay Down And Dance," last week. Though the tune is uptempo, it holds a sad story: one of the writers on the track, Ken Williams, died during the recording process.
“I love seeing his names on songs, such a sweet, sweet man,” Brooks says. “Miss him dearly, but hopefully through music he’ll live.”
In addition to Gunslinger, Brooks will also be releasing a collaborative Christmas album with his wife Trisha Yearwood soon. That festive record is titled Christmas Together and will be available Nov. 11.
Gunslinger is slated for release on Nov. 25, but will also be included in a 10-disc set that is exclusive to Target starting Nov. 11.
