Fox Sports Midwest to Become Bally Sports Midwest
The Sinclair Group announced that FOX Sports Midwest will be going through a name change in the upcoming months.
If you're a sports fan, you are familiar with FOX Sports Kansas City and FOX Sports Midwest. The Kansas City Royals and Sporting KC are broadcast on the first aforementioned network and the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues are on the second aforementioned network.
FOX Sports will be named Bally Sports Midwest. For nearly 25 years viewers have become accustomed to the network name that carried the Cardinals, the Blues, and some St. Louis University basketball games.
An arrangement that partnered the Sinclair Group and casino operator Bally's Corporation was made last November. This partnership was established with the possibility of bringing sports betting to states where it's currently legal. At this time Illinois has legal sports betting whereas Missouri currently does not.
Along with the change in the name from FOX Sports Midwest to Bally Sports Midwest, there will be a new logo. In a story from the St. Louis Sports-Dispatch:
The new logo features the same look that Bally has for its casino marketing, including red script.
Currently across the country Sinclair owns 21 regional sports networks. There had been different owners for these networks as previously they were owned by 21st Century Fox. The Walt Disney Co. had briefly owned them, too.
So as you watch Blues hockey games and get ready to settle in for the 2021 St. Louis Cardinals baseball season, you'll notice some changes in the network that carries both sports franchises.
