Former KC Chiefs HC Dick Vermeil Gets Call For Hall of Fame
Former St Louis Rams head football coach Dick Vermeil has a Super Bowl ring. He earned it while coaching the St Louis Rams and "The Greatest Show On Turf" from 1997-2000. He then stayed in Missouri and coached the Kansas City Chiefs from 2001-2005. He is in the St Louis Football Ring of Honor. He won the AP NFL Coach of the Year award in 1999.
He can now be called a Pro Football NFL Hall of Famer.
He will be going into the Hall of Fame as a Philadelphia Eagle. He was their Head Coach from 1976-1982. He led them to the Super Bowl in 1980. Vermeil made the announcement on The Rich Eisen Show Monday. The former coach will be enshrined as an Eagle, with “great admiration for the Rams and Chiefs.”
Vermeil won 120 regular season games as a head coach in the NFL. His St. Louis Rams won Super Bowl XXXIV over the Tennessee Titans. He’s also credited with turning an Eagles team around and taking them to the Super Bowl.
I will remember Dick as a Head Coach who was not afraid to be emotional. He was often brought to tears when he got emotional. He was in tears when getting the news on his induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame from Kurt Warner, who led the Rams to that title in 1999. Vermeil was selected by the Coach Committee, made up of nine members from the Selection Committee, which considers coaches whose retired at least five years ago. Congrats to Coach Vermeil on his induction for the Class of 2022.
