You need to get some gasoline and you've noticed prices are dropping, so where's the best place to fill up your tank in Warrensburg or Sedalia? Keep reading to find out.

First, we're all paying less for gasoline now than we were at the end of August. Gas Buddy says the national average price of gasoline has fallen for seven weeks in a row. The national average dropped 7 cents from a week ago to $3.38 a gallon this week.

The price of gasoline today versus a month and a year ago is even more impressive. Gas Buddy says, "The national average is down 32.8 cents from a month ago and 40.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago."

AAA Gas Prices list the average cost of gasoline in Missouri at $3.03 a gallon, so state-wide Missourians are getting a little bit of a hiatus from high prices, and our statewide average price is 35 cents cheaper than the national average.

Of course, where you live in Missouri makes a difference in how much gasoline costs. Prices in St. Louis range from $2.74 a gallon at Sam's Club and Costco, to $3.49 at a BP near Chesterfield Mall. In Kansas City, the Raytown Hy-Vee and other gas stations along Highway 350 are priced at $2.77 per gallon, to $3.69 at a BP on Van Brunt Boulevard near Interstate 70. Not to mention, cross over to Kansas and gas is slightly more expensive. The On The Go Travel Center off of Interstate 435 is $3.89. Although there are a lot of stations that have gas priced anywhere from $2.77 to $3.09 a gallon on the Kansas side.

Of course, many of us who live in Sedalia and Warrensburg are well aware of how there can be a difference in gas prices between towns, or even which gas station you choose to buy your gasoline from. The question we all seem to have is, why does gas cost more in Sedalia? At least that's the question on a lot of people's minds the last two or three weeks.

I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. I asked a friend of mine who works for a gas station about it a couple of years ago and there's not a simple answer. There's a variety of factors including the location of the station, competitors' pricing, the cost of gasoline, and where the gasoline is being trucked in from.

So who has the cheapest gas? In Warrensburg, it's a tie between the Murphy Mart and the Conoco on North Maguire Street. Both prices at 2:00 PM on November 9 are listed at $2.62 a gallon. In Sedalia, Murphy Mart wins again with a price of $2.99 a gallon.

Most of the other gas stations on South Limit are priced at $3.09 a gallon. In the Burg, there seems to be a little more of a price variation, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $2.65 - $2.79 in town and $2.89 on Highway 50 as you head towards Kansas City.

I mentioned the time and date I checked the prices because they can fluctuate, and your mileage may vary based on when you read this or when you check the prices out for yourself. You can do that on Gas Buddy's Gas Price Map here.

Enjoy the lower prices while we have them because I'm sure they'll go up again.
