Faith Hill Returns to NBC for ‘Sunday Night Football’ in 2012 Opening Commercial
Country music sweetheart Faith Hill is as American as apple pie, hot dogs and (especially) football, as she demonstrated again over the weekend. Hill has returned for her sixth consecutive season as country music's ambassador to America's favorite sport, performing the theme song 'Waiting All Day for Sunday Night' to kick off the game between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday.
Hill originally recorded the song -- which is musically based on the Joan Jett classic 'I Hate Myself for Loving You' -- in 2007, taking over from pop singer Pink. She's been the face and voice of Sunday Night Football ever since, and in the newly-recorded opening clip, the country stunner is joined briefly by some unexpected celebrity guests: 'The Voice' coaches Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and fellow country star Blake Shelton, who appear on the jumbotron screen in a call-and-response with Hill.
The country superstar is going to be pretty busy for the rest of the year. Not only is she involved with 'Sunday Night Football,' but she's also putting the finishing touches on a new album, and on Dec. 7, she and husband Tim McGraw will kick off their hotly-anticipated residency at the Venetian in Las Vegas, which runs through April 2013.
