There's a new alert that involves many cucumbers that have been shipped into Missouri from Mexico due to a potentially fatal contamination.

The Food and Drug Administration just issued an emergency bulletin and it involves many cucumbers that are used in many different products and also sold in boxes. The boxes in question have the brand "Pamela" on the side, but they originated from Agrotato, S.A. de C.V. in Mexico.

This recall of cucumbers in Missouri was initiated by the FDA that said they "may be associated with reported salmonellosis illnesses between October 12 – and November 15, 2024".

Why is Salmonella dangerous?

While even the healthy can have troublesome sickness from Salmonella, it becomes dangerous for the very young, very old and those with compromised immune systems if it enters the bloodstream.

These cucumbers may be associated with the more widespread Salmonella illnesses that have been reported over the past few weeks.

The company that shipped the cucumbers into Missouri and other affected states offered this statement:

“We at Baloian Farms are working in conjunction with our grower with the FDA to protect our customers and consumers. Food Safety has always been a top priority as we want to provide safe and nutritious food for our families and consumers.” said Luis Corella, President of Baloian Farms of Arizona Co., Inc. “We have been working diligently with the authorities and the implicated farm to determine the possible source.”
