The Sedalia Animal Shelter says that Elvis wants everyone to know there's no reason to have a "Blue Christmas" this year when there's a shelter pet waiting to share your love. Additionally, the Sedalia Animal Shelter is near the end of their Clear the Shelter special offering $35 dollar adoptions. So the time might be purr-fect to adopt.

I'm always a little hesitant to suggest adopting a pet around a holiday and I definitely wouldn't gift one to a child that's not mine without making sure their parents were on board with the idea and fully prepared to accept everything that pet adoption entails.

That said, if adding a furry friend to your family is something you've been talking about. You're aware of the costs, and some of the time, dedication and preparation you'll need to undertake to add to your family, then there may be no better time than now to adopt!

The Clear the Shelter special is offering the adoption of any available shelter pet for $35.00 through December 31. The adoption fee includes the spaying or neutering of the pet. Microchip implantation. The pet's first set of vaccinations. And one free month of pet insurance.

If you're looking to have a furry friend in your home by Christmas there is only two and a half adoption days left. The shelter's hours through Christmas is below:

Friday, December 20, 2019: Regular shelter hours - open Noon - 5:00PM CST.
