Cooking Tricks That Will Make Mealtime So Much Easier
We are in a situation right now with inflation raising the cost of many things. Gas, food, everything. I am a single man, so as long as I can feed myself, I am in good shape. Many of you have families, children, and are trying to get every penny you spend, go as far as it can. Especially in the kitchen. If you can get an extra meal out of whatever you are buying, or make the food last a little longer, you are going to be in better shape.
I found an article of a few cooking tricks that could make mealtime a little easier, and might allow your food to last a bit longer. I will highlight a few of them:
If you stick a straw up the bottom tip of a strawberry it will pop off the leaves at the top. This way you still have all of the strawberry.
Cook a potato in the microwave as opposed to the oven. It will cook faster, and if you prop the potato up on toothpicks, it will cook more evenly. 3 or 4 toothpicks used as legs should do the trick.
You never seem to be able to get every bit of peanut butter out of the jar. No matter how hard you try. Use gravity! Store them upside down and you will get a bit more.
Ever buy fruit that isn't quite ripe yet? Throw them into a dark paper bag and fold it over to prevent any air from getting inside. The fruits will give off a special gas that help speed up the ripened process.
Don't have a rolling pin for dough? Use a bottle of wine. It will do the trick. And actually it is more efficient.
So those are just a few, but there are many more that can help you in the kitchen. Click HERE for that link. Happy cooking!
