CMEC Issues Peak Alert for Thursday, Friday
Central Missouri Electric Cooperative has issued a peak alert for this area.
And they said that while the cooperative’s system is healthy and performing well in the heat, Thursday and Friday will bring a special strain on the system with a few power generation units down for maintenance and wind generation forecasts far below what we had earlier this week.
Decreasing the use of major appliances during the hours of 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday can help reduce power generation strains.
*Turning up your thermostat a few degrees and use fans to stay cool.
*Limiting the use of larger appliances such as laundry or dishwashers.
*Using smaller kitchen appliances like toaster ovens, microwaves and slow cookers to make meals, rather than relying on your range or oven.
*Unplugging or turning off unused electronics, chargers, and lights.
