Beginning on Monday, May 22, and continuing through Friday, May 26, the City of Sedalia’s Public Works Department will be milling and overlaying South Engineer Ave. from 18th Street to 24th Street.

During this period, lane closures will result in the roadway being reduced to a single lane of traffic. Travelers are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible to avoid delays.

Mill and overlay work will begin each day at 6 a.m. and continue through 5 p.m. until the project is complete.

Congestion is expected due to the lane restrictions and the volume of traffic normally using this roadway. Heavy equipment and workers will be present in the roadway during this period. Lane closures and restrictions will be in effect during the mill and overlay operation.

Plans are to mill and overlay the southbound lanes (west side of roadway) on Monday, May 22, with asphalt being laid on Tuesday, May 23; the northbound lanes (east side of roadway) on Wednesday, May 24, and asphalt being laid on Thursday, May 25.

Inclement weather or equipment breakdowns could delay completion of the paving operation, the City said.
