Beginning on Monday, April 10, and continuing through Friday, April 14, the City of Sedalia’s Public Works Department partnering with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be milling and overlaying E. Broadway Blvd. (U.S. Highway 50) between S. Massachusetts Ave. and S. Thompson Ave.

During this period, lane closures will result in the roadway being reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction. Travelers are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible to avoid delays.

Mill and overlay work will begin each day at 6 a.m. and continue through 5 p.m. until the project is complete. Congestion is expected due to the lane restrictions and the volume of traffic normally using this roadway.

Heavy equipment and workers will be present in the roadway during this period.

Lane closures and restrictions will be in effect during the mill and overlay operation. Plans are to mill and overlay the eastbound lanes (south side of roadway) on Monday, April 10; the westbound lanes (north side of roadway) on Tuesday, April 11; and the center lane on Wednesday, April 12.

Inclement weather or equipment breakdowns could delay the completion of the paving operation.

Mill and overlay work had been planned for nighttime hours to avoid heavy traffic periods, but the company providing asphalt was unable to provide asphalt except during daytime hours.

The City apologized for any inconvenience as they work to improve roadway safety in the area.
