The newest playground at Centennial Park, located at 16th and New York, is one that will benefit families with handicap children as well as children without handicaps. According to Sedalia Parks and recreations Director Mark Hewett, the new park comes from conversations with parents who have no place for their handicapped children to play, while their other children enjoy the playgrounds.

The new park will accommodate both handicapped and non-handicapped children according to Hewett. While the park’s ribbon cutting ceremony and official opening is not expected until late June or first part of July, Hewett expects children to be playing there well before that time. Hewett also said he expects the park to draw special needs children from outside the immediate area also, something he says the park department welcomes.

KSIS will be on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony, and will bring you that story right here.
