Bold Vision, Bright Future Campaign Secures $1.69M Grant
The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s Bold Vision, Bright Future Campaign received a boost in funding this month, securing a $1.69 million challenge grant through the Mabee Foundation which will go to the construction of a 30,000-square-foot Teen Center to be located on Third Street across from the Katy Depot.
“I am extremely proud of the efforts of our team that we were able to receive this grant from the Mabee Foundation,” said campaign co-chair RJ Lindstrom. “The fact that the Mabee Foundation believes in our project proves the Boys & Girls Club’s Teen Center will have a positive impact on our community for generations to come.”
Since its founding in 1948, the Mabee Foundation has made grants totaling more than $1.5 billion, primarily to capital campaign projects in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas. Because it is a challenge grant, BGC must raise additional funds within a one-year time frame to fully secure the grant.
“We are all very excited to rise to the challenge to fulfill the rest of our funding to ensure we meet the requirements of the grant,” Lindstrom added.
The Teen Center, slated to open in Fall 2026, will provide afterschool and summer enrichment for junior high and high school students and includes a workshop/lab, program areas, full commercial kitchen, art and music rooms, a full-size gym and more. The BGC Capital Campaign Committee has been working nearly two years to plan and raise funds for the project.
