American Inn, located at 1217 South Limit Avenue, passed their re-inspection today (Friday), according to the City of Sedalia.

The establishment is now in compliance with City Codes, including the ordinances specific to lodging facilities.

In November of 2021, the City of Sedalia sent an order to cease and desist operations at this location due to the failure of the business to comply with established city codes aimed at protecting public safety, and particularly their patrons.

Since that time, various City departments have been working with the owners to bring the operations into compliance with these standards.

Through these efforts of working with the Chief Building Official, Fire Inspectors, and Police Officers they have achieved compliance, clearing the way to reopen for business.

The City will continue to monitor this, as well as other businesses to assist in protecting the public.

City officials continue to encourage citizens and business owners alike to contact them with any questions, concerns, or suggestions towards achieving such safety and security.

"It is our goal to partner with all establishments in a way that facilitates strong working relationships that raise awareness and provides the best protections possible in any given situation.

"In this way, we can make Sedalia the best city ever," a press release concluded.
