Activities You May Not Be Aware of at 2021 Missouri State Fair
As of this writing the 2021 Missouri State fair is 45 days away. Basically a month and a half before we get to have our daily fill of corn dogs, funnel cakes, and cotton candy. With the 2020 version of the fair being limited, the gates are wide open for this year. Here's a couple of events you may not have heard of that's going on:
The 2021 Missouri State Fair Military Flag Retreat - You can nominate a Missouri veteran/active duty service member for this event but the deadline is quickly approaching. To be eligible for the Military Flag Retreat ceremony, you must be a veteran and/or active duty service member from Missouri. Through the eleven days of the Missouri State Fair, selected members are honored in a Military Flag Retreat ceremony taking place near the Centennial Entrance on the fairgrounds. The form is available on the website. The deadline to submit nominations is July 5.
Retrieving Freedom in the Ag Building - You can visit their booth in the Agriculture Building, Aug. 12-22. Retrieving Freedom, Inc., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to training service dogs for veterans and children with Autism. You can see and hear first-hand how they impact lives daily. If you want to find out more about the organization, you can checkout their website.
Last but not least is the return of someone that the kids always run up to, BARTholomule. He missed the 2020 Missouri State Fair but is back this year. The best part with mascot returning, the kids can have their pictures taken with crazy character during the fair. (Remember that's kids young and old!)
