A 27-year-old Buffalo, Missouri resident was arrested February 6 at Smith-Cotton High School.

According to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office, the school resource officer at Smith-Cotton made contact with the suspect on the south end of the high school parking lot. The suspect fled and was captured a short distance later, near Jennie Jaynes Stadium.

Authorities identified the suspect as Gannen E. Garoutte, who was taken into custody on two outstanding felony warrants, one for tampering with a motor vehicle and another for a Greene County probation violation. Garoutte also faces additional charges for resisting arrest. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail.
