The X-Men universe has been running rampant for the past few years, spawning multiple movies and TV shows that will probably be just as disconnected as the X-Universe has been in the past. Not that we’re mad about it. We have Deadpool, we have Legion, Gifted, New Mutants, and now we’re getting X-Force as well, which will see the returns of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Josh Brolin as Cable.

Production Weekly (h/t Digital Spy) has X-Force listed at the bottom of their slate of future listings, right after the next season of The Walking Dead and right before what appears to be a new Zorro movie, and it's expected to start production this October. We had inklings that X-Force was coming ever since more and more members of the X-Force were popping up in movies and TV shows in the universe, and a few months ago we heard that Drew Goddard would be directing it.

The X-Force is an elite team of superheroes who go on covert missions undercover to do missions that would be PR disasters for the public persona of the X-Men otherwise. In the past, the team has consisted of heroes like Psylocke, Colossus, Domino, Shatterstar, Wolfsbane, Danielle Moonstar, Archangel, X-23 and more, many of whom we’ve already met in past movies and TV shows. We have no idea how connected this will be to material that’s come before it — and no idea if Olivia Wilde and Dafne Keen will be making appearances — but it’ll at least have strong ties to the Deadpool movies via Reynolds and Brolin, so there’s at least some continuity.
