Do you remember what you were doing on this day thirty four years ago? What if I pinpointed an event that happened during that day? See if this jogs your memory.

It was thirty four years ago today when the United States was in shock. It was in the blue skies over Florida when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded. From the event a picture or short video can be replayed in our mind, where we were and what we were doing.  The 80’s event touched us. The last time an event of such magnitude struck us like this was probably when JFK was assassinated in Dallas on November  22, 1964.

The Challenger explosion may have affected us even more as it involved the tragic loss of astronauts plus a teacher, Christa McAuliffe, was on board. The event was such a loss to the nation that President Ronald Reagan postponed that evening’s State of the Union Address for a week.
