The Sedalia #200 School Board met at Smith Cotton High School Monday night (Dec. 17). While there were other items on the agenda, the one that brought more than 40 parents to the meeting was the “Security and Safety Update.”
School officials have issued to the parents of students a letter to regarding the recent reports of threats of violence at Smith-Cotton High School. The letter states that the high school "received information regarding a possible act of school violence that was to be perpetrated on school grounds," and that the case has been turned over to the Pettis County Juvenile Office for further action.
Gymnast Aly Raisman was one of the big stories of the opening weekend of the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. The 18-year old from Needham, Ma. qualified for the all-around title, knocking teammate, world champion and best friend Jordyn Wieber out of the competition that Wieber would have been the favorite in.
But the most entertaining part of Raisman’s near flawless routine was her parents’ reaction to it.
Raising children and what to let them see and hear is a highly personal issue. Some don't filter what their kids see at all, while others won't let them watch certain movies and TV shows, listen to certain music, or play particular video games. I'm one for a happy medium.
