International Justice Mission's (IJM) student chapter at the University of Central Missouri raised awareness about human trafficking with their "Choose Freedom" event outside the student Union on Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 25-26). The IJM chapter had students paint their hands red and press their fingerprints against a big, black "X," which stands for the "End It Movement," a global effort to stop modern day slavery.
I've always been a big fan of Halloween. Ever since I was little, I've just always enjoyed the costumes, candy, and getting scared. I definitely want to visit a haunted house this year. I'm new to the area, so obviously I've never been to any here, but I definitely want to check out these really cool haunted attractions in Kansas City. We'll be giving away tickets for them right here on our website!
It looks like quite a few drive-in theaters will be closing down in the next year. It's been announced that Hollywood films will no longer be made with 35 mm film and everything will be completely digital. It's not a big deal for regular movie theaters, but it'll be very tough for most drive-ins since the new digital projectors can cost around $80,000 or more. A lot of drive-ins are likely to go out of business rather than spend so much money.
George Strait's 2014 Cowboy Rides Away Tour dates were revealed during a press conference on Monday (Sept. 9). This is Strait’s final tour, and the singer announced 26 shows, set to begin on Jan. 9, 2014 and end in June or later with a to-be-determined date in Dallas, Texas.
Over Labor Day weekend, my younger brother Steve and his friend Justin came to visit, and since Steve is a pretty high energy, thrill-seeking kind of kid, so I thought an amusement park would be a good way to spend the day. Good thing we have such a nice one in the area!
There's no thrill quite like getting a ball at a baseball game. Unfortunately, the woman at a Kansas City Royals game in this video doesn't get to experience that, thanks to the pint-sized goofus who hijacks her moment.
Sgt. 1st Class Trenton L. Rhea, 33, of Kansas City, Mo., died May 15 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was a member of the 603rd Military Police Company, in Belton, Mo. He deployed under Operation Enduring Freedom.
The St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals are doing well in the beginning of their season, but another team in the area is just starting their season. The Kansas City T-Bones will be taking on the Lee's Summit Monarchs today (May 6) at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City in an exhibition game.
