This year will most definitely be one that Eric Church remembers for the rest of his life. In January, the singer scored his very first No. 1 single with ‘Drink in My Hand,’ and now he has returned to the top with his current hit, ‘Springsteen.’ The tune sits at No. 1 on both the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts this week, making it the singer’s second consecutive chart-topping song.
The 2012 CMT Music Awards are a collection of both superstars and hot, new country talent. This week, stars like Carrie Underwood and Eric Church have been rehearsing their performances, while newcomers like Kip Moore, Jana Kramer and the FARM look to take the stage for the very first time. Back in February, Eric Church first expressed his frustrations with ticket scalpers, telling Billboard, “Scalpers piss me off. We tried to make our tickets very accessible to fans, we kept the ticket prices low. What we didn’t count on was all these big ticket brokers would join our fan club, infiltrate our system, take advantage of our system and buy up all these tickets.”
The normally polite and proper country music community is beginning to take sides in the drama between Eric Church and Blake Shelton. Jimmy Wayne posted a long letter to fans at his Facebook page defending both Shelton and reality television shows like ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Idol.’
