The State Fair Community College Horticulture Club's annual spring plant sale is taking place through May 11 behind the Potter-Ewing Agriculture Building on the Sedalia campus.

"The Horticulture Club is actually the greenhouse class," said student Jesse Arbuckle. "We've been growing the plants since the start of this semester. We've worked really hard on them all and we've got the plants looking really nice."

Plants available include vegetables, herbs, premium annuals, annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, mixed containers, berries, and cold crops.

Instructor Kim Rimel said that the club is offering a few new items in 2018, "We've got a lot of succulents. We've never tried figs or hops before, but since beer making has become kind of popular, we've decided to try some new things. We have two greenhouses full of stuff that is ready to be sold." Rimel says the prices some plants are available for as low as $1.99. "We've got about anything anybody could possibly want."

Plant sale hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. Weekly specials will be offered throughout the sale, such as buy two and get one free. A flat sale will not be offered at the end of the sale.

Proceeds will be used to buy equipment and supplies for the horticulture program and greenhouses and to fund educational trips.
