A 15-year old Smith-Cotton High School freshman passed away from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle wreck Wednesday morning (Sept 20).

A press release from the Sedalia 200 School District says the student is 15-year old Jordan L. Sparks.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident just before 8:00, on Route Y east of Fairway Drive.

According to the online crash report, an eastbound 2000 Chrysler Town and Country van attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control. The van then traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.

Sparks was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver, 16-year old Jack E. Tague, suffered minor injuries in the accident. According to the report, Tague refused medical treatment.

The Sedalia 200 District expressed sincere condolences to Jordan's friends and family.
