My friend Monica is a preschool teacher at Parkview Christian in Sedalia, and asked me to come in and talk with her class about my job. She has people with various jobs visit the class and tell the kids what they do, so they can see all the different things they can be some day.
Oh boy, time for another Off the Trail Track! We feature a deep cut from a hot album, and this week it's the number one album in the land, 'Riser' from Dierks Bentley, making him the first artist to be featured twice on Off the Trail Tracks.
At the 2014 Oscars, John Travolta introduced Idina Menzel before she performed a song from the Oscar winning film "Frozen," He butchered her name pretty badly calling her "Adele Dazeem," which is not even close. Well, at least he got the Z in there.
Every Monday and Thursday on Roll Out of Bed with Rob I bring Huntin' Harry in as a guest host for an hour. We call this fun-filled time "KIX For Hicks." Harry gives us some hunting and fishing tips and news, shares his redneck perspective on our various topics, and we play some fun games like "NASCAR Math" and "Are You Smarter Than a Redneck," giving stuff away as prizes. But the one thing that sets KIX For Hicks apart from the rest of the show is how we do the music.
So we have some more bad weather headed our way, and I've noticed this video floating around online. A man who identifies himself as Frankie MacDonald loudly and repetitively informs us of an impending winter storm in the state of Missouri, giving the details on how the storm is being caused, and warns us to be prepared. A lot of people are wondering what's the deal with this guy and why he cares so much about a storm in Missouri. So I did some research and found out a little more about Mr. MacDonald.
Here's the latest and greatest Off the Trail Track, where we highlight a lesser known song you're unlikely to hear on the radio from a popular album. This week we're featuring the self-titled album of one of the fastest rising names in country music: Cole Swindell.
Last month, a 90-year-old decorated World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran in Wishek, North Dakota named Harold Krueger lost his wife of 63 years, and has understandably been pretty down about it. But one of his daughters helped cheer him up in a pretty amazing way.
Last Saturday night (Feb 22), Dukes & Boots in Sedalia held the after-party for the rodeo, featuring a live concert from the country band County Road 5. The band lived up to their slogan: "Smells like country, tastes like rock and roll," playing a wide mix of country and southern rock, both original songs and unique covers of well known country hits. The foursome did a great job of keeping the energy high and the crowd involved, playing to a packed house.
Our national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner" is always played before big sporting event begins. It's considered an honor to sing the national anthem, some performances are great, some are awful, and some are really weird. At the Nationwide Race that took place at Daytona Speedway last Saturday (Feb. 22), the national anthem performance definitely fell in to the third category.
It's time for another Off the Trail Track, where we take a look at a lesser known song from a popular country album. This week we're shaking it up and going WAY off the tracks with Buck 22's 'Country Pride.'
