Sedalia Police Reports for September 20, 2023

Tuesday night, Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a general information report. Upon arrival, Officers gathered the necessary information to generate a report. There was no further information given in the report.
Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle last Thursday night. The stop was conducted in the area of East 11th Street and South Summit Avenue on a vehicle whose registered owner was known to have a suspended license. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver had a suspended license and was intoxicated. The suspect was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC was above 0.08. Crystal Sheresa Tomasen Burton, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and Driving While Intoxicated. Burton was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.
Tuesday morning, Officers were called about a person walking in traffic and yelling at passersby in the area of South Ohio Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with a highly intoxicated female individual who was taken into custody. She was transported to the BRHC to be checked, and then transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 12-hour safekeeping hold. Six hours after the safekeeping hold expired, Officers were called to the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Ohio Avenue in reference to a subject in the roadway with her pants down. Officers located the subject flagging down a car on South Kentucky Avenue. The subject was then seen walking back into the Phillips 66, 216 West Broadway Boulevard. It was discovered the suspect had been previously trespassed from the store. Sarita Linda Leon, 61, of Sedalia, was arrested again and transported to the Pettis County Jail after passing a fit for confinement check at the BRHC. Leon was booked in at the Pettis County Jail on a charge of Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Leon was placed on a 24-hour hold.
Officers took a complaint from the LeMaire’s restaurant, 3500 West Broadway Boulevard on the evening of September 18th. Management reported someone ate at the restaurant and then left without paying. The restaurant wishes to assist in prosecution and investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of South Engineer Avenue in reference to a lost property report. Officers made contact with an unnamed caller, who said she lost her purse, which had medication in it. The caller did not know where she lost the purse.
Sedalia Police took a report of harassment Tuesday morning. A female came into the lobby to report the harassment occurred in the 1500 block of South Missouri Avenue. A report was completed.
Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a theft that occurred in the 2000 block of South Harrison Avenue. Carolyn White said over the weekend, one of their license plates was stolen off their vehicle. The license plate was entered into NCIC and MULES as stolen.
Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to an attempted theft report Monday evening. Upon arrival, Officers met with the Wal Mart loss prevention associate. The associate stated that on two separate occasions, a male suspect attempted to steal from the store. Both times, the male noticed he was being monitored, dumped the items, and left the store. He has not been identified at this time.
